Michael Geyser – Why Quest for my Gap Year

Why Quest for my Gap Year

When I was in my final 6 months of high school, I wasn’t sure what i wanted to do and so i decided to take a constructive gap year and that is when i found out about Quest Africa and applied to it. At first I was nervous and did not know what to expect but I quickly realised that this has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The first few weeks were both physically and mentally tough but a lot of fun and as my fitness increased, thanks to morning PT sessions which happen every morning, the more fun I had. I have also made some great friends who I would keep in contact with for the rest of my life.

I have also learned many skills here that I would never have learned anywhere else in my life this includes plumbing, electricity, hunting, mining, business and many more things. quest has also helped me push past my previous limits both mentally and physically. We have also travelled quite a bit to places like to lake Kariba, where we stay on a house boat and had an incredible time, and Victoria falls as well as a mine and a few farms, where we have been able to put some of the skills that we have learned to practical use. these include construction, hunting, plumbing and farming. we are also looking forward to many more trips especially our trip to Malawi where we will be doing some construction and scuba diving.

So far quest has been an incredible learning experience and I would recommend this course to anyone who has finish school and is unsure of what they want to do and I guarantee that this will be one of the best years of your life.
