PSYCH-ing and CYC-ling
By Ben du Toit
This week we learnt a lot about ourselves and each other as the week, which we called the ‘psycho’ week we were looking into ourselves learning about aspects of introverts and extroverts and how some people react due to the way we think and the way we see the world. Along with this we got to learn aspects about others characters and we learnt about others views. I believe that it made the group closer as we got to understand everyone’s ways of thinking.
We played a lot of touch rugby as well throughout the week in preparation for the Touchbowl Tournament, and everyone’s skills seem to be getting better by the day. It was good to see people who had never played rugby before getting involved and even scoring the odd try.
The weekend was full of ‘joy’ when we were told that there was going to be a triathlon for PT on Saturday morning and a cycle race on Sunday.. (our ‘day off’) However it wasn’t too bad as it was only a mini sprint triathlon which didn’t take long. Knowing this everyone pushed themselves to achieve a good time. However some of us were unaware about the ‘Death Bend’ at the bottom of the Quest hill which took at least 3 people off their bikes along with some of their skin. Albert ended up with stitches in his knee and is out of action for a while. The cycle race on Sunday was testing after all the rain we have been having, but it was also quite fun in the slippery, muddy conditions.
We are now looking forward to learning about construction and mining in the week coming up.
