SELF DISCOVERY By Yananai Vengesai

SELF DISCOVERY By Yananai Vengesai We had a lot of interesting ‘stuff’ happening this week. Starting on Monday when we were introduced to Felicity van de Ruit who took us through the 2 day course of MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator). She is a very interesting psychologist who helps individuals on the road to self discovery. People fall into different types of extraverts and introverts. I happen to be an introvert so I guess I struggle with people! On Wednesday we started with Natural History with Mr Macdonald and Mechanics with Mr Davies. Natural history was a blast, travelling around in Mr Macdonald’s land rover learning about plants, animals and the history of the area too. I knew absolutely nothing about trees and now at least I know a little… so it must be working! We also did a controlled burn in the game park with Mr. Randle and Japh, which was fun… at first! Mechanics was great but complicated, and I find it easier to understand it from a practical aspect now. Sadly I didn’t have my overalls so laundry is not looking good for me right now. We had an ‘Etiquette’ evening at the Randle’s and I learnt that I make a very bad receptionist (thankfully!), but as always an evening at the Randle’s is awesome. On Saturday morning we cycled 15km to Julie Flemming’s farm. They do sustainable horticulture with a big focus on vermiculture and composting and I must say that I am now a great fan. The most interesting fact I learnt is that each specific flower has a specific irrigation process. The compost made on the farm was absolutely amazing due to its richness. What else did we do ….. oh yeah… PT (sigh)
