TECH WEEK 3 / INTAKE 1

By Hugo Van Lennep of Amundsen Tent

Following our amazing time in Malawi, understandably Tech Week 3 began on a bit of a go slow… but thankfully with a bit more theory than practical we were able to work ourselves back into the routine.  With a few tough PT sessions to get us going, by Wednesday the general consensus was that this week was the most interesting tech week yet.

With plumbing, electrics and park management, we learned how to wire a house, install a shower and the basics of mammal and bird behaviour in Quiet Waters.   Although it was a relatively quiet week on Quest campus, for Kurt, Mike, Matt and Nick W, it was a bit more exciting as they went to Bubye Valley Conservancy which you can read more about in Matt’s blog.

Following a productive week at Quest, I was lucky enough to be in the ‘Come Dine with Us –Quesigodini’ group.  With a deadly team including Nick Bailey, Time Rath and myself we were able to cook up the perfect meal! We immediately brought an international flavour to the table by starting with a German soup, following with wraps and a Mediterranean roast vegetable dish, and finally ice cream with Bar-One and Amarula Sauce for dessert.  The night was a great success (at least the ‘dream team’ thought so) and the perfect end to a great week.
